Netflix has announced that its limited series, ‘The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey’, is scheduled for a global premiere on December 10, 2026. The production dramatizes the unsolved 1996 murder of six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey in Boulder, Colorado, focusing on the investigation and the intense media scrutiny faced by the family. Melissa McCarthy stars as Patsy Ramsey and serves as an executive producer, alongside Clive Owen as John Ramsey. The series, which was originally developed for Paramount+ before being acquired by Netflix in July 2025, was produced without the involvement of the Ramsey family. The project is led by showrunner Richard LaGravenese and director Anne Sewitsky. In recent interviews with Variety, McCarthy discussed her preparation for the role, stating that researching the case led her to feel a “deep compassion for the family” and a sense of responsibility regarding the “lack of humanity shown toward them by the public.” She described the project as a character study of those caught in the aftermath of the tragedy.
