Netherlands kidnapping and home invasion

On 30 July 2026 a 20‑year‑old woman was abducted from a car‑pool site in Papendrecht, locked in a car trunk and later left in Oud‑Alblas. While she was trapped, the same suspects broke into her home on Prinsenlaan in Rotterdam, tied up the occupants and threatened them with knives and firearms before fleeing with stolen goods. The woman escaped, sought help and alerted police, prompting a large‑scale investigation involving multiple units, a police helicopter and forensic specialists.

A week later, Dutch police announced a hunt for four to five suspects linked to the kidnapping and the violent home robbery. Investigators believe two individuals carried out the abduction and up to three participated in the burglary, possibly under an unknown organiser. The police appeal for witnesses and CCTV footage to aid the case. In the same briefing, authorities also reported arrests related to a separate fire‑station burglary in Aalsmeer, highlighting a broader rise in violent crimes across the Amsterdam region.
