Netherlands robbery investigations
Entities: Dutch police · Prinsenlaan · Forensic Investigation Service · Rotterdam
Overview
In mid‑July, police in Zaandam opened investigations into two separate street‑robbery attempts that occurred within a kilometre of each other. The first involved three teenage boys on fat‑bikes trying to snatch the bag of a man in an electric wheelchair; the victim suffered minor injuries. Later the same day a woman was assaulted on Botenmakersstraat when a man tried to pull her necklace chain, causing head and neck injuries. Police released a description of the second suspect and asked the public for any camera footage.
At the end of July, a different incident unfolded in Rotterdam, where three suspects forced entry into a top‑floor flat on Prinsenlaan. Although they threatened residents, possibly with a firearm, they left without taking valuables. Investigators recovered a phone and are processing forensic evidence while appealing for witnesses and surveillance footage. Both cases illustrate a series of robberies prompting heightened police inquiries across Dutch cities.
