New specialty confectionery shops and dessert products are being introduced in major Tokyo locations. In late July and August 2026, new retail developments were noted in Tokyo Station and Harajuku. The South Korean brand Jungnam Mimunga opened its first permanent Japanese location in Harajuku, featuring handcrafted rice-based sweets. Further expansions scheduled for September 2026 include the opening of Dessert CHOUX, a specialty cream puff brand operated by DAY TO LIFE, at the Tokyo Gift Palette in Tokyo Station on September 4. This location will offer dessert-inspired items such as ‘Chou Mocchi’ and ‘Pavé de Chou’. On September 10, BONDISH Co., Ltd. is set to launch R. O. STAR Seaside Terrace at Aqua City Odaiba. This Odaiba, a cafe and bar concept will feature featuring a terrace overlooking Tokyo Bay and plans to host planned character collaboration cafe events. New openings at transit hubs are also scheduled for mid-September. BAKE INC. will debut its coffee confectionery brand, ‘A Bite Coffee,’ at Gransta Tokyo on September 16. The brand utilizes a ‘LightRich’ concept, offering items like coffee and baked chocolate cookies. Following this, Kobeya will launch ‘THE STAND BY KOBEYA’ at Tobu Ikebukuro Station on September 18. This quick-service bakery, designed for professionals, will offer approximately 30 types of bread, including a signature croissant made with homemade starter. Concurrently, various patisseries and department stores have released new dessert items. Patisserie Rakkansha introduced a two-layer ‘Duo Fromage’ cheesecake, while Daimaru Tokyo featured new offerings including chocolate butter mille-feuille from ‘LE FEUILLES’, chocolate banana crepes, and black truffle butter sablés from ‘Hiroo Hyogetsudo’.
