Various manufacturers have introduced new everyday carry (EDC) tools and knives designed for multi-functionality and compact utility. Initial releases included Ysmart London’s Toolt, a module roughly the size of a car key fob containing 36 different tools, and Harnds’ Sidekick, a folding knife that integrates a blade with a bottle opener, rope cutter, window breaker, and cash clip. Subsequent product launches expanded the variety of specialized tools. Benchmade introduced the SlipRidge hunting folder featuring CPM MagnaCut steel, while Oknife released the MK, a compact device combining a slipjoint folder, a magnetic bit driver, and a 300-lumen spotlight. Additionally, CIVIVI released the Vyrent, a folding knife featuring a Damascus drop-point blade. Recent industry trends show a focus on miniaturization and the use of premium materials like titanium to balance portability with utility. Gerber’s Armbar Drive features a foldout blade, scissors, a screwdriver with reversible bits, and an awl, alongside a blunt end that serves as a hammer and bottle opener. The Free K4 maintains a slim profile by housing four additional tools within the handle. Hacksmith Industries LTD has also introduced the Smith Blade, a titanium multitool that consolidates 21 different utilities, including a knife and a 4mm precision screwdriver system, to reduce weight and bulk for travelers and outdoor enthusiasts.
