The New York Islanders have announced the winner of their fan-designed third jersey contest for the 2027–28 season. The winning concept, titled the ‘Navy Lighthouse,’ features a lighthouse logo that was previously used as a shoulder patch in the late 1990s. Selected from a pool of 80,490 submissions, the design includes orange and teal piping on the arms and bottom of the jersey, as well as white and orange numbering. The selection process involved a bracket-style fan vote that narrowed the field from eight finalists down to two top contenders: the lighthouse design and a navy jersey with ‘ISLANDERS’ spelled across the chest. In the semifinals, the lighthouse design defeated a jersey featuring the team’s 1990s fisherman logo with approximately 68.7% of the vote. The lighthouse imagery serves as a nod to the defunct Lighthouse Project, a $3.8 billion development proposal championed by former owner Charles Wang intended to transform the area surrounding the Nassau Coliseum. Islanders president of business operations Kelly Cheeseman stated that the contest was intended to provide fans with a “direct voice in shaping the franchise’s visual identity.” The team will now work with Fanatics to refine the design and finalize the official uniform kit.
