New York Rangers NHL season performance

The New York Rangers began the NHL season with strong momentum, entering an October 9 matchup against the Washington Capitals on a four-game winning streak.

By October 19, the Rangers held a 6-3-1 record and maintained a perfect 5-0-0 record at home. They prepared to host the Anaheim Ducks, who entered the game with a 4-3-0 record and an unbeaten road record of 3-0-0.

On the evening of October 19, the Rangers defeated the Anaheim Ducks 5-2 at Madison Square Garden. The win served as a “bounce-back performance” following two consecutive road losses and extended the team’s perfect home record to 6-0-0. This victory tied the second-longest home winning streak in franchise history.

Sean Durzi opened the scoring just 78 seconds into the first period, while Oliver Bjorkstrand scored twice. J.T. Miller and Gabe Perreault also contributed goals, and Alexis Lafrenière provided two assists. In the absence of Igor Shesterkin and Joonas Korpisalo, who both suffered season-ending injuries, rookie goaltender Dylan Garand made 29 saves to secure the win. Garand has since posted a 4-2-1 record, helping the Rangers climb to second in the Metropolitan Division.

The Ducks, facing fatigue from travel, scored two late goals from Nick Jensen and A.J. Greer in the final 70 seconds of the game, but were unable to overcome the deficit.
