Agri-photovoltaics specialist Next2Sun faced significant financial instability in early October 2026. The company initially reported that it failed to secure necessary capital through a recent share issuance and financing campaign. Although previous reports indicated over five million euros in offers, a review revealed that two major investment commitments were not secured, leaving the company’s future uncertain. Following this failed financing attempt, Next2Sun filed for insolvency for two of its entities, Next2Sun Technology GmbH and Next2Sun Mounting Systems GmbH, at the Saarbrücken District Court. The company attributed these difficulties to a lack of sufficient funds and the delayed release of planned EU subsidies for agri-photovoltaic projects. Managing Director Sascha Krause-Tünker noted that while the German Bundestag and Bundesrat approved funding in 2024, the necessary clearance from Brussels has not yet been issued. This delay reportedly led to a collapse in orders and a halving of revenues within a single year. The insolvency proceedings are being conducted under self-administration. While the two subsidiaries are affected, the group stated that Next2Sun AG and Next2Sun Projekt GmbH remain unaffected and that business operations will continue as the group seeks new investors to secure jobs. investors. However, the company’s approximately 140 employees across Germany, Austria, Poland, and Japan face uncertainty, as management has not ruled out staff reductions.
