Following strong defensive driving performances, expert Christian Danner noted that Nico Hülkenberg possesses the necessary mentality for his upcoming role with Audi. Despite this, some experts have questioned whether Audi can realistically achieve its ambitious goals within the Formula 1 series, suggesting the team faces a significant journey to reach the top of the sport. As he prepares for his move to Audi, Hülkenberg stated he has no definitive timeline for his racing career, noting that his continued participation depends on personal enjoyment and competitive performance. Regarding the transition, Hülkenberg acknowledged the challenges expected during Audi’s first year and emphasized the importance of patience and long-term development. Speaking ahead of the Grand Prix in São Paulo, the 39-year-old German driver reiterated that he is not making long-term plans for his future in the sport. He noted that while Audi has shown positive development, significant work remains. Hülkenberg also reflected on his professional growth, stating that he has learned to manage the emotional highs and lows of racing more steadily than at the start of his career. Ahead of the São Paulo Grand Prix, Hülkenberg further clarified that he is not using Fernando Alonso as a benchmark for his own career longevity. He also addressed his role as a veteran teammate to Gabriel Bortoleto, noting that while he does not view himself as a “father figure,” the two maintain a good rapport. Additionally, he reflected on his history with the Interlagos circuit, where he secured his only career pole position in 2010.
