Besiktas has accelerated its pursuit of Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin, entering active discussions regarding a potential €15 million (£12.7 million) fee. Besiktas head coach Vincenzo Italiano has reportedly requested the 25-year-old Belgian international to anchor his midfield. To facilitate the move, the Turkish club intends to use Belgian attacker Leandro Trossard to help pitch the transfer to Raskin, who remains under contract at Ibrox until 2028. This renewed interest follows previous failed negotiations where Rangers rejected a loan-to-buy structure. While Besiktas previously characterized Raskin as a secondary option, the club is now moving toward a structured permanent bid. Rangers have maintained a valuation in the £12.7 million range, and concerns had previously been raised that the player’s market value might decrease as he enters the final 18 months of his contract. Negotiations ultimately collapsed in September 2026 after Rangers' ownership rejected a Besiktas loan proposal that included an option to buy. While Raskin had expressed a desire to leave, he has since reintegrated into the Rangers squad under manager Derek McInnes. Raskin later addressed the failed summer move, stating, “That is football and it is not a big deal,” while emphasizing his focus on his current role. Despite the summer collapse, Besiktas is expected to make another attempt to sign the midfielder during the January transfer window. Rangers have reportedly accepted that a departure is likely next year, provided Raskin maintains his performance levels. While McInnes has expressed openness to keeping the player beyond his current contract, the club faces pressure to sell during the winter window to recoup investment as his contract progresses.
