Overview
Costa Rican gastronomy student Nicolle Jiménez secured third place at the Americas Young Chef 2026 international competition held in Ecuador from October 8 to October 12. Representing Coto Brus and the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica, Jiménez utilized flavors from Costa Rican Caribbean cuisine to compete against talents from the United States, Peru, Ecuador, Honduras, Martinique, and the Bahamas.
Jiménez received support from the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica and the Liga Agrícola Industrial de la Caña de Azúcar (LAICA) through its Doña María brand. The competition included technical training at the Iche Cooking School and Laboratory in San Vicente de Manabí.
