Following these reports, Boko Haram officially denied the existence of a ceasefire deal. In a video message, the group’s Sharia judge, Mallam Abdulrahman, dismissed the claims as ‘a lie’ and accused the government of deception. Despite the denial, some sources suggested a small team might have agreed to the truce without full authorization from the group's central leadership. The Nigerian presidency has not verified the deal, referring questions to the Ministry of Defence or the National Security Adviser.
