In July 2026, Nigerian sports authorities announced two major events. The first briefing detailed the 2026 edition of the 1xCup football tournament in Lagos, featuring 100 clubs from the city’s five divisions, a N20 million prize pool, and scouting presence from clubs across Nigeria, Africa and Europe.
