Nigeria has introduced several initiatives aimed at fostering youth entrepreneurship and economic development. The Federal Government launched the ‘YouthCred for Entrepreneurs’ programme, providing loans ranging from N200,000 to N2 million to business owners aged 18–35 without requiring collateral. Furthering these efforts, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and the Nigerian Youth Academy partnered with the platform Cascador to launch the ‘NiYA × Cascador Founders Program’. This pilot program provides intensive training to a cohort of 20 founders, including those without formal business registration. The top eight participants receive up to ₦5 million in non-dilutive funding and enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions to assist in scaling their businesses. In addition to these programs, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) announced the Building Resilient Young Nigerian Entrepreneurs (BRYNE) Project. This initiative aims to reach 100,000 young Nigerians annually through physical and digital interventions. It includes the SMEDAN Incubation Programme (SIP), targeting 600 entrepreneurs per year in sectors such as agriculture, fashion, and woodwork, alongside a Campus Enterprise Engagement Platform developed with the Federal Ministry of Education. Expanding support for student-led innovation, the Federal Government has opened applications for the second cohort of the Student Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG), also known as the ‘Next Moonshot Initiative’. Part of the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI), (NESRI) and the Renewed Hope Agenda, the program aims to provide up to ₦50 million in equity-free funding to 50 selected student ventures focusing on STEMM fields.
