Nike continued to broaden its 2026 Air Max portfolio throughout the summer. After unveiling the 3D‑printed Air Liquid Max “Black Metallic” and the fall‑targeted Air Max 1000.2 “Black/Hyper Crimson” in June, the brand added the Joga Bonito “Neon” colourway—drawing on the Mercurial R9 boot—for a fall launch. In July, Nike announced the Glacier Blue version of the Air Max 1000.2 for an August drop and the Air Max 95 “Big Bubble” in a “Blue Sapphire and Action Red” palette for the Japanese market. On 29 July a premium Reverse Solar Red variant of the Big Bubble was introduced alongside the worldwide release of the Joga Bonito Neon. Early August brought news that the iconic Air Max 90 will return in autumn 2026 in neutral cream, gray and white shades, signalling a minimalist turn within the year’s diverse Air Max offerings. On 12 August, Nike announced a collaboration with Brooklyn-based fine artist Aya Brown for the debut of the Air Max 95 Big Bubble ‘Atomic Green’. The design features atomic green suede, black mesh, and anthracite overlays, accented by university red swooshes and red Air units. The shoe includes custom details such as a tongue logo modified to ‘ABrown’ and special packaging featuring the artist’s artwork. Following a pop-up release in New York on 15 August, the collaboration is scheduled for a global release on 21 August. In late August, Nike announced further retro releases for the fall 2026 season. This includes the revival of the Air Max 2000 from the Y2K-era Alpha Project, rebranded as the Air Max Ecstasy Plus, which will debut in collaboration with Supreme. Additionally, the Air Max 95 ‘Greedy’—a mismatched design featuring orange, teal, neon green, and Solar Red—is scheduled for release on 8 September 2026 using the ‘Big Bubble’ Air unit.
