Bulgarian volleyball players Aleksandar and Simeon Nikolov joined the Italian club Cucine Lube Civitanova for the new season. In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the brothers, sons of Vladimir Nikolov, discussed the unexpected opportunity to play together at the club level. Simeon noted that Aleksandar’s presence was a major factor in his decision to join, stating, “Together we are significantly stronger.” The brothers also discussed their sibling dynamics, with Aleksandar describing Simeon as a “born leader.” The brothers made a successful debut in the Italian SuperLega against Verona, helping Lube secure a victory. Aleksandar, playing as an opposite hitter, was the match’s top scorer with approximately 20 points, while Simeon acted as the setter. This performance follows their recent success in the Jezzi Cup, where Simeon was named most valuable player. Lube Civitanova has since secured a second consecutive victory, defeating Padova 3-0. Aleksandar scored 13 points, including two aces and one block, while Simeon contributed seven points, including four aces and one block. Following these wins, Lube leads the standings with six points.
