During a Nintendo Direct broadcast on September 9, 2026, Nintendo announced several upcoming titles for the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. Following the broadcast, the indie hide-and-seek title ‘Meccha Chameleon’ launched on the platform. Developed by LEMORION and HAGANEIRO, the Switch 2 version supports cross-play with the PC version and features touch screen and mouse functionality. Developers noted that a rapid three-month porting process was facilitated by the console’s unique mouse support. The game allows up to 24 players to participate via internet connection, and a new MOD map system for user-generated content is expected to be available later this year. The developers have opted for self-publishing to maintain agility in updates. Major franchise announcements included ‘Kirby and the World Beyond’ for spring 2027. This new 3D adventure, coinciding with the franchise’s 35th anniversary, features an expansive, open-world structure and enhanced copy abilities, such as a ‘powered-up Sword Kirby’ capable of cutting through environmental barriers or the world’s horizon to reveal new territories. Gameplay trailers showcased Kirby exploring vast landscapes and encountering new characters, including a mysterious girl, while facing off against King Dedede. Yoshiaki Koizumi noted that further details regarding the title and anniversary celebrations will be shared in the future. Other mentioned releases for the platform include ‘Metroid Ravenous’ for January 28, 2027, and ‘Monster Hunter Wilds’ for December 4, 2026. Additional titles include ‘Final Fantasy VII Revelation’ (scheduled for April 8, 2027), a remaster of ‘The Witcher 3’, ‘Professor Layton and the New World of Steam’ (December 10), ‘LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Night’, ‘Yo-kai Watch 2: Ha-dou’, ‘Rockman: Dual Override’ (Spring 2027), ‘Romancing SaGa 3: Destiny United’ (February 16, 2027), and Koei Tecmo Games’ ‘The Apothecary Diaries: False Imperial Brother’, which is scheduled for early 2027.
