Nintendo has introduced details regarding its upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 hardware and subsequent software ecosystem. Initial reports outlined hardware specifications, including an expected autumn release, a battery capacity of approximately 5,172 mAh, and a console weight of about 411g. To meet European regulations by February 2027, Nintendo plans to implement hardware modifications allowing for independently replaceable rechargeable batteries. Following the hardware reveal, Nintendo released version 4.0.0 of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe specifically for the Switch 2. This update introduces enhanced high-resolution graphics, reduced loading times, and ‘CameraPlay’ support, which allows players to display their faces via USB camera. The update also expands local multiplayer to support up to eight players on a single console via split-screen using Joy-Con 2 or Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controllers.
