Information regarding the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 continues to emerge through hardware specifications, software announcements, and digital storefront activity. Hardware details for the Switch 2 indicate the console will feature a custom NVIDIA Tegra T239 processor, 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and an 8-inch LCD display. In Brazil, SanDisk has introduced microSD Express cards for the console using the PCIe 3.1 NVMe interface, with licensed Mario-branded versions available at a premium. Nintendo has reaffirmed its commitment to physical media, a strategy Bill van Zyll, Vice President and General Manager for Latin America, described as being “agnostic” to media formats. This stance contrasts with Sony’s plan to cease PlayStation disc production by 2028. While the ‘Game-Key Card’ format has faced criticism, market data from Circana shows a 5% increase in US physical game spending in 2026, driven by a 631% surge in Switch 2 Game-Key Card sales. To manage rising costs, Nintendo has implemented a $10 premium for physical media. Digital storefront activity provides insight into increasing storage requirements. Recent eShop listings reveal large file sizes for Switch 2 titles, such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (84.9 GB), Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix (54.2 GB), and Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen (54 GB). ~~Upcoming~~ For the week of October 25, 2026, retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop have listed pre-orders for ~~late October~~ several upcoming titles.
