Nintendo of America has launched its “Customer Appreciation Sale” in the United States, running from September 13 through September 26, 2026. The promotion offers discounts of up to 30 percent on a wide range of products, including digital and physical games, bundles, downloadable content, accessories, amiibo figures, and merchandise. The sale is being financed by approximately $300 million in government tariff refunds. These funds were recovered following a Supreme Court ruling that declared certain trade tariffs, previously imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, to be unlawful. While Nintendo had previously maintained that customers were “not entitled” to direct refunds for the higher prices paid during the tariff period, the company is now utilizing the recovered funds to subsidize this large-scale event. Recent updates indicate the sale is one of the most significant in the company’s history, as Nintendo rarely offers deep discounts on first-party titles. While previous reports suggested the promotion excluded Nintendo Switch 2 hardware and games, newer information indicates the sale includes Switch 2 games alongside Switch accessories and apparel. On the eShop, the sale includes new software releases for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, such as “Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave,” “Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection,” “LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight,” and “Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter.” Additionally, North American Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can redeem My Nintendo Platinum Points for exclusive physical rewards, including a metal desktop display for the original Legend of Zelda and a Virtual Boy-inspired glasses case. In the United States, retailers are participating in the event; for example, Walmart is offering an additional $10 off certain discounted Switch games for new customers. Other retail promotions include discounts on LEGO sets at Macy’s and various other video game titles.
