Goalkeeper Noah Atubolu has officially joined Eintracht Frankfurt from SC Freiburg on a loan deal. The agreement includes a purchase option that may convert into a mandatory obligation to buy under specific conditions. If the permanent transfer is finalized, the fee is reported to be approximately €13 million, which would make Atubolu the most expensive goalkeeper in Frankfurt’s history. This move follows a period of uncertainty regarding the 24-year-old’s future and Frankfurt’s search for a definitive number one goalkeeper, a search intensified after a heavy pre-season defeat to Brentford. Trainer Adi Hütter has confirmed Atubolu as the primary choice, noting his “exceptional dynamics” and experience. Atubolu, a former Germany U21 international who remains eligible for Nigeria, has established himself as a high-level talent. During his tenure at Freiburg, which included helping the club reach the 2026 UEFA Europa League final, he made 125 appearances and set club records for consecutive minutes without conceding and consecutive penalty saves. To facilitate the loan structure, Atubolu had recently extended his contract with SC Freiburg.
