North Macedonia is preparing to launch the ‘m. Uslugi’ mobile application, which is scheduled for promotion in October. The initiative, announced by Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski, will allow citizens to access electronic versions of identity cards and driver’s licenses, as well as two additional electronic administrative services. The application is currently undergoing final testing and protocol harmonization to ensure system stability, cybersecurity, and personal data protection. The government is specifically working to harmonize data exchange protocols with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which serves as the primary data holder. A test version has already been utilized by approximately 6,000 citizens. Once released, the app will be available on Google Play and the App Store. The long-term goal of this digital transformation is for the mobile phone to eventually function as a ‘digital wallet’ for secure access to state documents and services.
