In North Macedonia, an investigation by ‘360 degrees’ has scrutinized the distribution of approximately 290,000 euros in state funds by the Ministry for Communities and Relations. The funds, intended to promote interethnic relations, were awarded to 36 organizations. The probe highlighted a concentration of projects in Kumanovo, the hometown of former ministry head Ivan Stoilkovski. While Stoilkovski denied influencing the selection process, claiming he only approved the highest-ranked projects, the investigation examined ties between recipients and government officials. Separately, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Sedat Suleimani, announced the opening of Sulejmani, has opened the electronic application system for the 2027 annual contests to fund projects of national interest. Sulejmani described culture as a “strategic investment in creative potential and the sustainable development of society.” The ministry aims to support high-quality, innovative, and sustainable projects that increase the visibility of Macedonian culture, with special culture. Key priorities include projects capable of long-term cultural contribution through institutional cooperation and international affirmation. Special priority is given to those projects implemented in border zones to support ensure cultural content is accessible in diverse environments and contributes to local community development. All applications must be submitted electronically via the official government portal; paper or postal submissions will not be considered.
