Norwegian climate and renewable energy funding

Overview

Norway has received significant financial allocations for various climate and energy initiatives. The European Union Innovation Fund awarded approximately 3.3 billion NOK to Norwegian companies for projects including carbon capture and storage and offshore wind. Notable recipients include Aker BP and Höegh Evi for the Atlas Project, which aims to connect industrial clusters to CO2 storage on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, as well as Sirona Technologies and Aker Solutions.

Additionally, the Norwegian government agency Enova allocated 3.94 billion NOK to Fortius Offshore Wind and Fram Wind Solutions. These funds are designated for two floating offshore wind projects at the METCentre demonstration site off Karmøy. The projects involve the installation of large turbines intended to test technologies that could lower the costs of floating offshore wind and facilitate large-scale renewable power deployment.
