As the Nürburgring racing circuit approaches its centenary in 2027, marking 100 years since its foundation on September 27, 1927, several manufacturers have announced commemorative projects. Porsche is releasing a limited edition 911 GT3, named the ‘100 Jahre Nürburgring’, with only 100 units produced for Germany. The vehicle features design elements inspired by the track’s ‘Green Hell’ nickname, including green protective film, green interior accents, and a roll cage. New details specify the inclusion of a ‘Green Hell’ mode switch and LED door projectors that display the track layout. The car is available in White or GT Silver Metallic and features a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine producing 510 PS. In conjunction with the car, Porsche Design is releasing an exclusive Chronograph 1 watch, restricted to owners of the limited-edition 911 GT3. BMW M and BMW Motorrad have also unveiled a ‘100 Jahre Nürburgring’ collection. The automotive lineup includes six models—the BMW M2, M3 Sedan, M3 Touring, M4 Coupé, M5 Sedan, and M5 Touring—finished in historical Nürburgring Green or Black Sapphire metallic with unique silhouette graphics. The motorcycle collection features the M 1000 RR, M 1000 R, and M 1000 XR, each limited to 100 units worldwide. These motorcycles include Nürburgring Green paint, carbon wheels with green detailing, and individually numbered airbox covers. Further details on the BMW collection specify that the cars feature black upholstery with green and white contrast stitching, anniversary graphics, and special roof stripes. While car production numbers remain unspecified, orders for most models open in September, with the M2 scheduled for January 2027. Motorcycle orders are expected to open in October. Additionally, motor journalist Klaus Ridder has released a book documenting the history of the Eifel racetrack through interviews, stories, and historical imagery drawn from over 70 years of experience.
