Nyesom Wike, Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), continues to advance infrastructure projects and assert his political influence. He is spearheading the ‘Rainbow Coalition,’ a cross-party alliance in Rivers State comprising members from the PDP, APC, Labour Party, and Action Alliance, aimed at securing Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. Wike clarified his decision to decline the role of Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign ~~Council, citing~~ Council—a position eventually given to Senator Abdulaziz Yari—citing his non-membership in the party and a desire to avoid the political risk of losing his primary bases in the FCT and Rivers State. He noted that former campaign leaders, such as Rotimi Amaechi, Bukola Saraki, Aminu Tambuwal, and Simon Lalong, lost their home states while leading national campaigns. Wike maintains that political relevance is defined by delivering local electoral victories and has expressed intentions to keep opposition leaders like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi under pressure, remarking, “My business is to make them not feel well all day.”
