O2 Slovakia is proceeding with the legal integration of UPC Broadband Slovakia, which is scheduled to cease existing as a separate legal entity on November 1, 2026. This follows O2’s acquisition of UPC from Liberty Global for 95 million euros. Under the merger, all rights, obligations, and contracts will be transferred to O2 Slovakia. While the UPC brand name will continue to be used for internet and television services, customers will see changes to billing and administrative data. O2 Slovakia has stated that service terms, pricing, existing discounts, and loyalty periods will remain unchanged. As the merger date approaches, O2 Slovakia has clarified that while invoices will now be issued by O2 Slovakia, service types and bank accounts for payments remain unchanged. Customers using direct debits or standing orders may not need to take action, though manual transfers will require new recipient details. The UPC brand, customer contacts, applications, and customer zones will remain in place for the time being. The acquisition allows O2 Slovakia to leverage an extensive fixed network serving between 600,000 and 650,000 households across approximately 80 Slovak cities, supporting a broader strategy to integrate mobile, internet, and television services. As of late October 2026, the transition is imminent, affecting approximately 170,000 UPC customers who will begin receiving invoices from O2 upon the merger's completion.
