Odisha industrial and scientific development
Overview
Odisha is pursuing a multi-faceted strategy to bolster its industrial and scientific landscape. The state is establishing India’s first rail-tech park in the Khordha district to support railway modernization, backed by investments totaling approximately Rs 24,600 crore across six manufacturing projects.
Complementing this industrial push, the state is expanding its scientific research capabilities through initiatives in marine biotechnology, space applications, and rare earth exploration. This includes the expansion of the Institute of Life Sciences in Bhubaneswar and the development of the Odisha Marine Biotechnology Research & Innovation Corridor (OMBRIC).
To support these advancements, the government is reforming its skill development and technical education sectors. Efforts include modernizing Industrial Training Institutes, establishing industry-linked Centres of Excellence, and expanding residential infrastructure for polytechnic students. Furthermore, new partnerships aim to provide specialized training in emerging fields such as electric vehicle technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, and Industry 4.0.
