Large-scale off-road racing events have taken place in Sinaloa, Mexico, driving significant tourism and requiring coordinated security efforts. The Surutatazo 2026 extreme route event in Badiraguato concluded with over 10,000 participants and 2,000 all-terrain vehicles. The event resulted in 100 percent hotel occupancy and an estimated economic impact exceeding 13.5 million pesos, drawing visitors from various Mexican states and the United States. Following this, authorities began preparing for the “Cosaltazo ‘Cosaltazo OFF-ROAD 26” 26’ event scheduled for early September. To ensure safety for the expected 500 participants and 100 vehicles, an inter-institutional group comprising the Mexican Army, National Guard, Navy, and state and municipal police has coordinated security and emergency service deployments for the route spanning Culiacán and Cosalá.
