In late July 2026, Greek Super League side OFI Crete announced two incoming players as part of its pre‑season rebuilding. An oral agreement to sign Spanish forward Aitor Cantalapiedra Fernández on a two‑year contract was disclosed on 25 July, and after a medical in Heraklion, the deal was confirmed two days later. Cantalapiedra – a 30‑year‑old who previously featured for Barcelona B, Villarreal B, Sevilla Atlético, FC Twente and Panathinaikos – arrived with 300+ professional appearances, 75 goals and 48 assists, having won the Greek Cup with Panathinaikos in 2022 and 2024 and enjoyed loan spells at AEK Larnaca and Brazil’s EC Vitória. Concurrently, OFI secured a loan for Greek centre‑back Dimitris Nikolaou from Palermo, returning the defender to Greece after several years abroad. The 28-year-old international is signed until the summer of 2027, bringing experience from clubs such as Empoli, Spezia, and Bari. In August 2026, the club's recruitment continued with the official signing of 29-year-old Italian defender Lorenzo Dickmann from Bari. Following successful medical examinations, the right-back/wing-back signed a two-year contract. Dickmann brings extensive experience from the Italian leagues, including over 320 appearances in Serie B for clubs such as Bari, Novara, Brescia, Chievo Verona, and Spal, as well as experience in Serie A and with the Italian U21 national team. Additionally, the club announced a partnership with Aktina Travel Group to provide charter flights for all away matches in European competitions for the 2026-27 season, beginning with the Europa League playoffs. On 17 August 2026, the club further strengthened its squad by signing 17-year-old Kostas Papadakis from Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The Greek-German player, a versatile central defender and defensive midfielder, signed a three-year contract. On 28 August 2026, OFI Crete announced the signing of 33-year-old Bosnian international striker Kenan Kodro on a one-year loan from Ferencvaros TC. Kodro, who previously played for clubs including Athletic Bilbao and FC Copenhagen, arrived in Heraklion to bolster the attacking line for the Stoiximan Super League and the Europa League. The deal includes a provision to extend the partnership through 2028, which would be activated following the conclusion of the current season.
