The search operation for a missing man on Okanagan Lake has been suspended following an extensive multi-agency effort. The incident began on Tuesday, September 22, when a man and a woman were reported in distress on paddleboards between Fintry Provincial Park and Carr’s Landing. While a Kelowna Fire Boat successfully rescued the woman, the man was not located. Although his paddleboard was recovered, the individual remains missing. Search efforts involved water, air, and ground crews, including helicopters, drones, K9 units, and teams from Vernon and Central Okanagan Search and Rescue. Investigators believe high winds may have knocked the man off his board. It is also noted that the pair were reportedly not wearing personal flotation devices or paddleboard leashes. The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP has suspended the search due to the “large search area and significant water depth,” though they and authorities have stated they will provide updates if there have been no new information becomes available. updates since Friday.
