It 1946, the novel explores the multicultural history of the region, depicting the coexistence and tensions between Poles, Germans, Jews, and various migrants and repatriates amidst the displacement and shifting borders of the post-World War II era. Following the premiere, Tokarczuk held promotional events in Wrocław and Gliwice.
