The Unraveled Tour, supporting the album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’, officially commenced with a sold-out performance at the PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, Connecticut. The production features a seasonal theme, with the setlist divided into chapters representing Spring, Summer, Summer Twilight, Autumn, and Winter. A central highlight of the opening night was a dramatic costume reveal during the song ‘The Cure’. Utilizing a custom water-reactive dress designed by Hussein Chalayan—based on his Spring 2016 collection—artificial rain caused the white outer layer to dissolve, revealing a red corset bodysuit and micro miniskirt underneath. ~~This effect was intended~~ The garment utilized polyvinyl alcohol fibers, a material Chalayan developed to react to liquid, serving as a literal interpretation of the tour title and the lyric ‘I’m unraveled’. The visual stunt sparked mixed reactions on social media. While some fans praised the transformation as ‘art’, others criticized the material's appearance, with some users comparing the dissolving fabric to ‘wet toilet paper’ or ‘wet paper towel’. In addition to the theatrical elements, the performance included a personal tribute where Rodrigo led the audience in a ‘Happy Birthday’ song for her mother, Jenni. The 86-date tour is scheduled to run through May 2027, covering North American cities and later moving to Europe, with support from Wolf Alice and Devon Again. Due to the tour schedule, Rodrigo was unable to attend the 2026 MTV VMAs, despite receiving four nominations, including Best Pop and Best Alternative.
