On September 9, OM Digital Solutions officially announced the OM System PEN, a the first camera in the historic PEN series to be released under the OM SYSTEM brand. This compact Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera that revives the PEN series. The new model features a retro-inspired design, retro-inspired, rangefinder-style design aimed at beginners and enthusiasts for travel and everyday photography. Technical specifications include a 20.37-megapixel 20.4-megapixel Live MOS sensor, sensor and a TruePic IX image processing engine. Key upgrades include AI-powered subject recognition autofocus, 5-axis in-body image stabilization, The model introduces several firsts for the PEN series, specifically a 2.36 million-dot EVF and IPX1-rated dust and splash resistance. Stabilization is provided by 5-axis in-body image stabilization offering up to 5.5 stops of compensation. Creative functionality is enhanced by a dedicated ‘CP’ button for computational photography modes—including high-resolution shots, HDR, and focus stacking—and a ‘Profile Control’ switch for color and monochrome adjustments. The camera also utilizes AI-based subject detection for humans and animals. The OM System PEN is scheduled for a late October 2026 launch, with the body-only version priced pricing starting at approximately $999/€999 or 150,000 yen.
