The One Piece franchise is undergoing a significant transition in its production models. Following the broadcast of episode 1180, the anime has entered a major hiatus, with Toei Animation and Fuji TV confirming a return to new episodes in 2027. This break facilitates a shift from a weekly release to a seasonal two-cour production model, intended to align animation with Eiichiro Oda’s manga pacing and maintain visual quality. During this period, the franchise will maintain momentum through several projects. The theatrical release ‘ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY’ is slated for 2027 to explore the history of the God Valley incident. Other upcoming projects include the WIT Studio remake of the East Blue arc and the ‘LEGO One Piece’ animated special in September 2026. Additionally, LEGO has released various themed sets, including a Gum-Gum Fruit model and a Tony Tony Chopper figure. The Netflix live-action series continues to expand. Following appearances by cast members at Comic-Con Málaga 2026, Netflix has announced casting for the third season, titled ‘One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta’. New recurring cast members include Emilio Sakraya (Koza), Omid Abtahi (Toto), Jamie Ward (Pell), and Nabeel Khan (Chaka). Production for this season has wrapped in Cape Town, South Africa, with a projected 2027 premiere. Unofficial reports suggest filming for a fourth season could begin as early as December 2026. Regarding the source material, the One Piece manga has entered a scheduled hiatus following chapter 1196 to allow Eiichiro Oda to preserve his health. Chapter 1197 is scheduled for release on November 1 via Manga Plus. Oda has previously indicated the story may continue at least until 2030. Meanwhile, the One Piece Card Game continues its updates, including a banlist effective October 12, 2026, regarding the Dracule Mihawk card.
