The oneworld airline alliance has introduced new digital and logistical tools to enhance international travel. During an innovation summit in Lisbon, the alliance launched a multi-carrier digital check-in technology. This system allows passengers on complex itineraries to manage all flight segments through a single preferred airline app, enabling them to scan passports and receive boarding passes directly to digital wallets. This technology uses a shared digital platform to allow different member airlines' systems to communicate, meaning passengers can check in for connecting flights operated by different alliance members without visiting a physical counter. Malaysia Airlines was the first carrier to adopt the technology. Future updates are expected to include check-in capabilities for codeshare itineraries and dynamic, real-time boarding passes. Following this, oneworld relaunched its Meetings & Events sales tool. This service is designed for groups of at least 50 delegates, providing event planners with access to preferential fares across the alliance’s 15 member airlines. The tool allows individual attendees to manage their own flight arrangements via dedicated booking links. The relaunch coincides with a trend report produced with travel forecasting agency Globetrender, which identifies seven forces expected to transform the international meetings and events sector between 2027 and 2030.
