Following director Adam Wingard’s announcement at the July 24 San Diego Comic-Con panel that Onslaught would serve as the third installment of a loose trilogy—beginning with You’re Next and continuing with The Guest—A24 released an official trailer on July 27. The film is described as being “in the same universe” as The Guest and functions as a spiritual sequel, sharing the same town but featuring a fresh story direction. While Dan Stevens does not reprise his original role from The Guest, he appears in Onslaught as a scientist in a government-created super-soldier program. The plot follows former Army sniper Celeste (Adria Arjona) as she battles a rogue squad of genetically engineered super-soldiers—identified as Crybaby, Cockroach, and the Butcher—who escape from a nearby secret military research facility.
