Ontario human trafficking busts

Overview

In late July 2026, Ontario police disclosed two major operations targeting organized human‑trafficking networks.

On 8 July, investigators in Ottawa arrested three men suspected of running a trafficking ring that spanned several Ontario cities, including the Greater Toronto Area. The same inquiry led to a vehicle stop on Highway 401 near Kingston, where three additional suspects from Laval, Longueuil and Magog were seized with large quantities of cocaine, weapons, cash and equipment, and faced charges for drug and human trafficking.

Three days later, the Halton Regional Police Service announced the conclusion of a 10‑month multi‑jurisdictional probe, Project Troubadour. Nine suspects were arrested on 27 July and charged with 85 offences, including multiple counts of person‑trafficking, benefiting a criminal organization and drug offences. Authorities uncovered 12 victims aged 18‑34 who had been sexually exploited across the Greater Toronto Area and, allegedly, in British Columbia and Alberta. The bust also yielded luxury assets such as a Lamborghini, two Mercedes‑Benz cars, high‑end jewelry and cash totalling roughly CAD 450,000, alongside cocaine, oxycodone, psilocybin and cannabis.
