Opel has announced the launch of the Corsa GSE, an all-electric high-performance hatchback positioned as the most powerful production Corsa in the brand’s history. Serving as a successor to the historic GSi and OPC models, the vehicle features a 207 kW (281 hp) electric motor producing 345 Nm of torque. Technical specifications include an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 180 km/h. The car is powered by a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery (51 kWh usable capacity), offering a WLTP range of up to 374 km. Charging capabilities support 100 kW DC fast charging, which can replenish the battery from 20% to 80% in approximately 27 to 30 minutes. To improve driving dynamics, the GSE model is equipped with a sport-tuned chassis featuring lowered suspension, reinforced stabilizers, and a Torsen mechanical limited-slip differential. The handling tuning involved rally professional Manfred Stohl. It also includes Alcon four-piston brakes with 355 mm discs and 18-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Drivers can choose between Sport, Normal, and Eco modes. The interior features Alcantara sport seats and a 10-inch touchscreen. While the WLTP range is rated at 374 km, real-world testing in mountainous terrain has indicated significantly lower practical ranges, with some reports suggesting the battery may deplete in under 150 km during spirited driving. ~~Orders were expected~~ The vehicle is designed to ~~open~~ perform effectively on ~~September 1, 2026, with initial limited editions reported~~ challenging mountain pass roads, such as those found in the Dolomites.
