In late July 2026, Open, a Greek television channel, faced a deepening staffing crisis as it prepared for a new season. Only presenter Katérina Zarífi had been confirmed as a new hire, while the newsroom struggled with a chronic shortage of seasoned political journalists. Owner Ivan Savvidis, together with Christos Panagiotopoulos and Andreas Papamimiko, pledged a reshuffle of personnel to fill key news slots. On 28 July, veteran crime reporter Mina Karameritou submitted her resignation, citing disputes regarding her role in the upcoming season of the morning show “10 Pantou” and tensions with co-host Nikos Stravelakis. Following her resignation, Karameritou made a televised demand for authorities to solve a local dog-killing incident. Although she was initially expected to stay until 9 August, she delivered her final on-air appearance on 31 July, thanking the technical staff and General Director Chrystos Panagiotopoulos. Following her departure, Open began searching for a new co-host for Stravelakis, with Katerina Papakostopoulou identified as a strong candidate. Karameritou's move to rival broadcaster SKAI was confirmed; she is set to join Giorgos Grigoriadis for the weekend program “Dekatianoi,” which is scheduled to premiere on 29 August. This follows internal shifts at SKAI, where Giannis Pitaras was moved to work alongside Dimitris Oikonomou on “Simera.” By mid-August, SKAI officially announced the partnership with Karameritou, welcoming her to their news department for the upcoming season. On 19 August, SKAI confirmed her arrival follows her resignation from Open approximately three weeks prior. On 27 August, as preparations continued for her new program, ‘Reportage stis 10’, Karameritou shared a social media video of a cat named Aphrodite that had entered the studio, jokingly calling the animal her “new co-presenter.” Open's news programs remain scheduled to return on 24 August.
