The Optimism ecosystem is expanding its infrastructure through the migration of Unichain, a layer-2 scaling solution built on the OP Stack. In October 2026, Unichain began transitioning its production operations to Optimism’s OP Enterprise service. Under this managed-operations model, Optimism will handle handles Unichain’s production sequencers, monitoring, and incident response, while Unichain maintains its own chain ID, contracts, and applications. This transition follows a model previously adopted by Soneium and planned for Ink. Following the announcement of this management transition, the Optimism (OP) token saw significant price growth, outperforming major assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum. Unichain completed its mainnet transition to the OP Enterprise framework on October 29, 2026. This market momentum period of expansion coincided with the approval of Upgrade 20 by Optimism governance, which focuses on improving Superchain interoperability and fault proofs. The upgrade also includes a plan to allocate 50% of Superchain revenue toward OP token buybacks starting in February 2027. By late October, the OP token experienced further rallies, reaching a seven-day high of $0.1214. During this time, network activity increased, with daily transaction counts rising by 20 percent to 1.2 million. To further incentivize growth, the Optimism Foundation proposed a mechanism to reward partners that drive transaction volume by returning a portion of sequencer fees in ETH, aiming to encourage activity without increasing the circulating supply of OP tokens.
