A man fled the scene in a dark small car; while one person was inside, no injuries occurred. A homicide commission is now investigating the connection to previous shootings. This incident marks the third such attack in the region within a single week. Previous incidents include shootings at a Turkish café in Cologne's Südstadt and an attack on a residence in Erftstadt-Köttingen belonging to the owner of a major Turkish snack chain. Authorities are investigating whether these attacks are linked to extortion attempts involving millions of euros. The North Rhine-Westphalia State Criminal Police (LKA NRW) has recorded approximately 20 similar cases. Authorities are examining links to extortion-based crime involving groups colloquially referred to as the ‘Turkish Gen-Z Mafia.’
