Outdoor recreational activities in the French Alps include paragliding and hiking. In the Grenoble region, the Plateau des Petites Roches at Saint-Hilaire-du-Touvet serves as a major paragliding site, supported by landing zones in Lumbin and local flight schools.

In the Hautes-Alpes, the Clarée valley offers hiking through high alpine scenery, such as the Col des Thures, as a quieter alternative to Chamonix. Other regional routes include the La Pare hiking path, which starts at Les Chapeliers and passes near the Château de Montclar, providing views of Seyne-les-Alpes, Chabanon, and the Plaine de Chardavon.
