In late July, organizers released the full lineup and schedule for the Outside Lands festival in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, naming Charli XCX, The Strokes and Rüfüs Du Sol as headliners. The announcement highlighted eight stages, a Night Shows series at city venues, and new Lyft Bike valet stations to encourage cycling. Tickets sold out quickly, prompting a waitlist and resale options. By early August, the three-day event was underway. Attendees camped at the park’s south entrance, spanning a wide age range. The festival was streamed live on Amazon Prime Video, with a free 30-day trial offered to new viewers, allowing those without tickets to watch performances online. During the festival, Charli XCX made several surprise appearances. After headlining on Friday, August 7, she joined The Strokes during their set on Saturday, August 8. Frontman Julian Casablancas introduced her as a ‘superstar’ and jokingly noted that she ‘won by a lot’ regarding album sales following the July 24 release of both artists' new projects. The pair performed a duet of ‘Take It Or Leave It’ from the 2001 album ‘Is This It.’ Additionally, Charli XCX appeared via a video cameo during a set by Djo, pretending to leave a voicemail regarding the song ‘Charlie’s Garden.’ The festival also emphasized regional culinary culture, featuring 100 Bay Area restaurants representing 53 different cuisines, including local establishments such as Original Joe’s, Perry’s, and Balboa Cafe.
