Padel made its historic debut as an official competitive sport at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan. The International Padel Federation described the inclusion as “a confirmation of the growth of padel throughout the world” and a step toward potential Olympic recognition. During the tournament, the Japanese women’s national team, consisting of Yoshie Tokumoto and Saki Tsukamoto, secured the inaugural women’s gold medal. They defeated Indonesia’s Fadna Kusmawati and Fitriani Sabattini with a set score of 2-0. The Japan Padel Association indicated that this victory will serve as a foundation for developing the sport and training junior players in the country. At the 20th Asian Games, the Japanese women's national padel team, represented by Mie Tokumoto and Saki Tsukamoto, secured this historic gold medal, marking the first time the sport was included as an official discipline.
