Following the July‑2026 protest by Baloch National Movement activists in Bremen, Islamabad intensified its security response. The army’s Operation Shaban, launched after coordinated attacks that killed dozens of security personnel, continued in Balochistan, involving the army, Frontier Corps and provincial police. Former Balochistan chief minister Nawab Aslam Khan Raisani warned that punitive measures such as orchard‑tree cutting or mosque bombings would not resolve the province’s grievances and urged a serious political dialogue. Baloch human‑rights groups—including The Joint Awami Action Committee continued the Baloch Yaqeenat Committee, Baloch Women Forum and Baloch Voice for Justice—condemned protests, which also sparked solidarity rallies in the United Kingdom. Indian foreign‑affairs officials condemned the crackdown as a systematic effort to silence dissent "ruthless" and appealed to the called for international scrutiny and a United Nations for inquiry. Pakistani Special Assistant on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah acknowledged that former Mujahideen trained by Pakistan had turned their weapons inward. Baloch human‑rights groups reiterated their condemnation and urged UN monitoring. The situation remains marked by parallel military operations in Balochistan and escalating civilian repression in Kashmir, with calls for political dialogue increasingly juxtaposed against heavy‑handed security measures.
