In late July 2026, Pakistan’s bullion market showed marked volatility. On July 19, 24-karat gold rebounded to Rs 424,236 per tola, supported by modest rises in international spot prices and investor interest despite pressures from U.S. interest-rate expectations and Middle East tensions. Silver also moved higher during this period. On July 23, domestic gold prices slipped sharply, with the 24-karat rate reported at Rs 427,436 per tola as global spot prices eased to approximately $4,046 per ounce. Within a day, the trend reversed; gold rose by roughly Rs 4,600 per tola to Rs 433,836 as the international spot price climbed to $4,114 per ounce. By August 8, the market entered a significant upward trend. Gold prices rose by Rs 2,200 to reach Rs 456,536 per tola, driven by international prices climbing to $4,341 per ounce. Since August 5, the per tola price in Pakistan had increased by a total of Rs 28,600. In contrast to the gold surge, silver prices declined, dropping by Rs 113 per tola to close at Rs 6,826. On August 10, gold prices in Pakistan showed signs of stabilization, with 24-karat gold remaining steady at approximately Rs 449,500 per tola and 22-karat gold priced around Rs 412,039 per tola. Local rates continue to be influenced by international bullion prices, trading near $4,356 per ounce, and the movement of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar. By mid-August, volatility continued. On August 13, the market experienced further volatility. The All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA) reported a decline in 24-karat gold prices, with the price per tola falling by Rs 3,500 to Rs 460,436. Simultaneously, silver prices in the local market dropped by Rs 175 per tola to Rs 6,936. However, other reports indicated gold prices could rise to Rs 463,936 due to stronger international bullion prices. On August 16, the market saw further fluctuations.
