The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has initiated legal proceedings in the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) to challenge a Peshawar High Court interim order. The previous ruling had declared the house arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers under the 3 MPO null and void, directing police not to arrest them. A bench including Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan is scheduled to hear petitions from the KP government. While current petitions involve 51 specific PTI workers, reports indicate the government intends to approach the FCC regarding the bail and detention status of an additional 150 workers. Under governor's rule following the imposition of emergency, the KP government filed these petitions through the Chief Secretary. Parallel legal challenges involve the detention of Imran Khan’s family. The Lahore High Court has directed the Lahore Deputy Commissioner to appear regarding the extended detention of Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi, and Uzma Khan, who are being held under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance. The court also ordered authorities to facilitate a meeting between Noreen Niazi and her daughters following reports of heart-related complications. Additionally, the Islamabad High Court is scheduled to hear a petition seeking to allow members of the national dialogue committee to visit Imran Khan in prison, citing concerns over his health and the impact of visit bans on political stability. In a recent development at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Jail, Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, recently held a 40 minute meeting with Barrister Salman Safdar to review legal matters and health conditions. This was Safdar’s first contact with Khan in seven months and with Bushra Bibi in 11 months. During these discussions, Khan reportedly urged his legal team to prioritize Bushra Bibi’s case, citing her deteriorating health and eye issues, and requested that lawyers seek court relief regarding her medical treatment. Additionally, the Islamabad High Court has scheduled hearings for November 10 regarding appeals filed by Khan and Bushra Bibi in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust corruption case. These appeals challenge their previous convictions and seek to determine if procedural irregularities occurred during the initial trial.
