The Palestinian Presidency has scheduled legislative elections for November 28, 2026. However, internal debate persists within Fatah regarding the feasibility of the vote. Jibril Rajoub, Secretary of the Fatah Central Committee, stated that holding elections on schedule is ‘impossible’ under current conditions, suggesting a presidential election should occur first. In contrast, President Mahmoud Abbas and spokesperson Jamal Nazzal maintain that preparations are ongoing, with Abbas describing the vote as a ‘vital political and democratic battle’ to renew national institutions.
