National Action Party (PAN) leaders in Querétaro have focused on internal cohesion and fiscal policy, with Governor Mauricio Kuri González highlighting collaborative efforts among party officials. Legislative coordinator Guillermo Vega Guerrero has advocated for increased budget allocations to resource-poor municipalities, while noting the challenges posed by federal resource reductions and the suspension of certain social programs by the Morena party. Following these discussions on unity and funding, the party moved toward candidate evaluation for the 2027 elections. State party president Martín Arango García reported that the party was analyzing survey data and focus groups to select candidates. While the party intended to incorporate ‘citizen profiles’ for municipal and district candidacies, the race for the governorship would focus on established profiles. The four most competitive finalists identified for the governorship were Felipe Fernando Macías, Luis Nava, Chepe Guerrero, and Agustín Dorantes. In preparation for the 2027 electoral process, the PAN has formalized its political structure. Felipe Fernando ‘Felifer’ Macías Olvera has been appointed as the state coordinator for the ‘Defense of the Homeland, Family, and Liberty,’ ‘Cuidar Querétaro’ project, a role positioning him as a potential gubernatorial candidate. the party’s virtual candidate for the governorship. In this capacity, he is expected to face Santiago Nieto, the candidate for the Morena-PT-PVEM coalition. During an event attended by national leader Jorge Romero Herrera and Governor Kuri González, several municipal coordinators were also named, including Agustín Dorantes (Querétaro), Tania Ruiz (San Juan del Río), Rodrigo Monsalvo (El Marqués), Josué ‘Chepe’ Guerrero (Corregidora), and Jairo Morales (Huimilpan). Additionally, Luis Nava was designated to coordinate local districts. Macías emphasized the necessity of party unity and citizen engagement, a focus on security, public works, and economic development, stating, ‘Results without closeness is populism and closeness without results is technocracy.’
